Israel, Van Kooy & Days, LLC, is a law firm that addresses the legal issues of families and small businesses. We work in the areas of divorce (including collaborative law, mediation, and litigation), estate planning and probate of estates, real estate, and taxation.
Laurie Israel, founder of the firm (formerly Law Offices of Laurie Israel) started her law career as a tax lawyer, and has interests in estate planning, marriage, and divorce. She is an active divorce mediator and collaborative law attorney, and is also developing the area of “Mediation to Stay Married”, also known as Marital Mediation. Laurie is on the board of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, and on the board of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council.
Karen Van Kooy, formerly an assistant to Liz Malia, a state representative, is engaged in helping divorcing clients and others in family litigation move through the court system in the most humane way possible.
Laura Days is an expert at helping clients buy and sell real estate, and works on the firm’s conveyancing practice. She also handles estate planning, estate administration, and tax law.
Ronny Sydney, former selectman in Brookline and former state representative from Brookline, has a practice that includes divorce, permitting, zoning, and representation of small businesses.
Heather Hoffman is of-counsel to the firm in real estate, real estate titles and conveyancing. She is also a great resource to the firm for consulting on a variety of real estate, estate administration, and tax issues.
